Earlier this month we were at Stoneleigh Kit Car Show with the GBS Zero’s, over the weekend we saw many GBS Customers including David Smeaton who has had is GBS Zero on the road now since March 2012. David told us about  his long road trip in his Zero and I asked him to send over and photos & details from the trip that he might have so we could share it with you all, and he kindly did….

“The RHOCaR tour of Scotland took place from the 15th to the 20th April 2016.  There were 12 cars in total: 4 Zeros, 4 Robin Hood 2Bs, 1 Roadrunner SR2, 1 MK Indy , 1 SCC Stylus and 1 MX5.  The ‘Southerners’, as our Scottish fiends had labeled us, made our way north on the Friday so we could start the trip in full on the Saturday.  Once our Scottish friends had joined us, we set off and travelled from Dumbarton to Skye first passing the shores of Loch Lomond.  Day 2 was spent just travelling round Skye.  2 of the pictures are of my car at Neist Point Lighthouse on the west coast of Skye.

The following day we headed over the famous Applecross pass  and on to the Applecross Inn for a wonderful lunch.  From there we made our way all the way up the west cost to Durness for our next stop.  We had decided that if we had come this far, we should head over to John O’Groats, which we duly did, ending up for the last night in Scotland in Fort William.

We all went our separate ways but the journey was not over for me.  I made my way down country for an overnight stop at Chester and then did a further leg across the north Wales coast, round The Great Orme and then down through Wales back to Gloucester.

Including the initial run up to Scotland, the trip had taken me 7 days and I had covered 1850 miles.  The Zero never missed a beat and was a pleasure to drive.  It got attention wherever it went and proved it is as adept on a long tour as it is on the track or on a Sunday blat.”
