Earlier this week we were pleased to welcome Tutor Dr David Upton and three Students from Aston University to the GBS Factory for a tour of our facilities. Students George Okech, Jack Naseby and Ayman Rafiqi are all taking part in the Formula Student Competition that’s happening next week at Silverstone, where they are preparing a business case that they will be presenting next week to a panel of judges. Their Tutor Dr David Upton contacted us to see if he could bring the students to GBS for a tour and ask questions about the business and what we do. So earlier this week they all enjoyed a tour with Richard around the GBS Factory, they got to meet the GBS Team, see what we do and all the behind the scenes of what is happening and had the opportunity to ask any questions.

Formula Student (FS) is the world’s largest student engineering design competition which is taking place 11th-15th July at Silverstone. We wish George, Jack and Ayman and all students involved every success next week at the event and look forward to hearing how they get on and sharing that with you.

We are also working very closely with Dr David Upton who is the Research Fellow/Industrial Placement Tutor at Aston University as next month we will be welcoming one of their other students to GBS for their years placement in Industry.

We are pleased that Dominic Wills who is currently studying Mechanical Engineering will be joining us for his year placement. Some of you may already know Dominic and have met him at our GBS events, as Dominic and his Father built a Zero several years ago and always join us on our Track Days and events, and they are both booked on to join us at our Silverstone Track Day in October. So when Dominic approached us about a placement we were more than happy to offer him the opportunity and now look forward to him joining the GBS Team.

We do all we can to support Schools, Colleges and University’s as the next generation of car builders are the future of the British motor industry.  We are also very pleased to hear that Doncaster College whose students have been building a GBS Zero kit have now got it running, we will share more photos and details on that with you next week.
